9:19 pm
i'm giving myself thirty minutes to write today's post.
i woke up this morning to a short segment of so sheep may safely graze on npr. i was drifting in and out shortly before that. as soon as i heard it, i was fully awake. it was played at a pleasant pace on piano.
i baked chocolate chip cookies. two batches, 26 cookies, none burned. i had to stay in the kitchen and baked by ear. the oven has not been very good with the temperatures. i had burned every single loaf of banana bread no matter how low i set the temp. i was burning them at 150 degrees and at less than 30 minutes (recipe calls for 300 for 50). the first batch of cookies turned out perfectly. they were nice and flat and golden. the second batch was not as flat and was a bit browner, probably because the oven gets hotter with time.
i attempted to go through the clutter today. i dumped one full trader joe's grocery bag of junk. yesterday, half a bag. it's hard to go through years of packratting in a weekend. each time i try, i end up cluttering the entire bedroom floor. i'm not sure if i'm doing away with the mess or creating more of it. looks like the latter.
the stinky sweater has dried and is now smelling like laundry detergent. i don't like it but i guess it's better than the odor, which will return in time, i'm sure of it. i spent some time studying the sweater's construction this afternoon. fairly simple. the only trick it has occurs at the transition between the ribbing and the plain knitting. i should have no problem replicating it.
jg went snowboarding today. sounds like he had a bit of trouble getting to the snow and finding an open resort. i last heard from him around 6 and he's still in truckee. i'm sort of glad i didn't join him. i couldn't anyway.
i went to the office again tonight. i got the work done promptly. i'm going to try to update my to do list before i go home. i joined the polaroid postcard group on flickr so i'm excited about sending some tomorrow. i need to find neat things to take pictures of first. the magnolias in the front yard for sure. and waffles, if she comes in tomorrow.
done. four minutes to spare.
