missile friday

5:58 pm

this evening around 6 or so bill stood at the front door of hsg and motioned for me to come over. he was looking west toward vandenberg. i followed him outside to find a contrail lit up by the sunset. we couldn't tell if the flying object was a jet or a missile, but we could see it move like a mutha. the portion of the contrail over vandenberg lingered while the rest of it dissipated in the sky over us. bill decided it was a missile because the fuel they use gives off a halo after combustion. we ran back inside and grabbed our cameras.

it's been an uneventful day today. waffles came into the office around ten and went home with andy around four, well before bill got into the office. earlier in the day i made her stand up and get the ball out of my fingers. she did but reluctantly. and when she did get up, she grabbed the ball ever so gently. what a great dog.

the rain is clean gone and the wind is back. i was hoping it would rain over the weekend but there is no such luck. i loved the clouds before the rain yesterday. gave the mountains and the ocean some drama.

i chatted at length with a friend who owns a nikon d80 at about my ambivalence on getting the rebel xti. the decision to buy the camera is easy because my mom is funding 60% of it. but then i'd want fancy lenses and a new pc to process the pictures. i could get very expensive.

i was at trader joe's tonight and caught eyes with not one but two cute guys. they might have been college age - too young. one was following me around, i think. all the eyeing made me nervous. is my skirt hitched up by my underwear? are there down feathers in my hair? both has happened before. funny that they were grocery shopping on a friday evening. are they in a long distance relationship? or are they simply single? either way, what a sad bunch of people we are, milling around trader joe's by ourselves on a friday night.
